The Lord’s Prayer Is Focus of Three-Part Workshop
Just when you thought you had the Our Father down, think again. The straightforward language of the Lord’s Prayer could easily lull you into believing you understand all that Jesus was trying to teach the world. In fact, the nuances of this beloved prayer are surprisingly abundant, and it is with this awareness that a mission series is being presented by the School Sisters of St. Francis, beginning in early September.

“The Our Father is a window through which we may understand the heart, mind, and mission of Jesus,” says Sister Bea Dorsey, PhD, a School Sister of St. Francis, and lecturer in Scripture Studies at Sacred Heart School of Theology. “When we say this prayer with awareness and intention, we may align our own heart, mind, and mission with his.”

For three consecutive Wednesdays (September 11, 18, and 25), Sister Bea will be leading a reflection titled “Considering the Our Father” on the campus of the School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee. You are sure to find spiritual refreshment during the 90-minute morning sessions, which will take place from 9:30 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at the Maria Linden Independent Senior and Assisted Living Apartments; 2735 W. Greenfield Ave., Common Rooms 2036 and 2036A.

Young and older adults are invited to attend this series, which will probe the potential of the Our Father, and draw us closer to fulfilling Jesus’ instruction in the Gospel of Matthew that we “pray, then, in this way.”
A registration fee of $25 covers all three sessions. Space is limited, so we recommend that you order your tickets in advance by contacting Donna O’Loughlin at 414-385-5272 ordoloughlin@sssf.org.
