Schantz Organ - IV-115rks

Drew Rutz has been a church musician for 45 years, serving parishes in Illinois, Oklahoma, Washington State, and now at St. Mary’s Parish in Port Washington, Wisconsin. His education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rosary College (now Dominican University) and a master of Music degree in Music and Liturgy from the University of Notre Dame. Both his degrees include a major in organ, but in addition to organ studies with Herbert Gotsch, Edward Mondello, and Sue Seid, he has studied violin with Karl Linden, boychoir training with Jim Litton, harpsichord with Natalie Jenne, Lenora McCroskey and Edward Parmentier, and baroque oboe with David Dutton. He has earned the Choir Master and Fellow certificates of the American Guild of Organists.
Drew has always taught young musicians, both in school and in private lessons, and a number of them have gone on to further musical studies and performance. Currently his students include majors in Music History, Voice (opera) and French Horn. He has written music for his choirs and instrumentalists, and has composed psalm settings for weekday Masses for his own use playing daily Mass in Port Washington. Several of his students have done composing as well.
