Dean began studies of piano at age six, and private organ and music theory instruction with Dr. Marilyn K. Stulken of Racine, WI at age 10. He attended St. Sebastian Elementary School, of Sturtevant, WI and played organ and piano on a substitute basis through
graduation, and into High School. He attended st. Catherine's High School in Racine WI, playing in the school's Concert Band under director Keith Ruelle, and also played piano and organ for all-school liturgical celebrations.
Upon graduating, he was named Official Organist of the Milwaukee Brewers beginning in the 2003 season, a position he currently holds, and since 2004 has been a staff organist at Greenfield's landmark Organ Piper Music Palace, where he enjoys entertaining patrons on
the restaurant's 1920's Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ. He has played many programs on many of the area's finest instruments (both theatre and classical) for local organ enthusiasts, including for DTOS (Dairyland Theatre Organ Society), CATOE (Chicago Area Theatre Organ Enthusiasts), CTOS (Chicagoland Theatre Organ Enthusiats), JATOE (Joliet Area Theatre Organ Enthusiasts), and for the Land of Lincoln Theatre Organ Society in Rockford, IL. He
also currently serves as Vice-President of the Dairyland Theatre Organ Society, and is a member of the American Guild of Organists, Milwaukee Chapter. He has also studied organ privately with Michael Batcho at Milwaukee's Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, and Tom
Koester at Carroll University in Waukesha, WI.
He currently serves as Principal Organist, and Associate Director of Music at St. Raphael the Archangel Church of Old Mill Creek, IL, where he is working closely with all those involved on the restoration and re-installation of the historic five-manual 1915 Austin pipe organ formerly installed in Chicago's Medinah Temple.
His love for historic and unique pipe organs, and pipe organs of an orchestral nature have drawn him to the magnificent new Schantz pipe organ at Gesu Parish for this December concert.
