Here are a few of the exciting events we have planned:
Headliner Almut Roessler (Dusseldorf Germany)
discussing and playing works of Olivier Messiaen on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his death,
She will also give a master class and a lecture on aspects of his music.
Mme Roessler holds the distinction of studying with M. Messiaen and recording the complete organ works under his direction.
Organ recitals by Professor James Kibbie, and Dr. Karel Paukert
Carillon recitals on the newly renovated Baird Carillon
Recordings and commentaries by legendary Michael Barone
Student recitals including one by high school students from Interlochen Arts Academy
An opportunity to see the inner workings of the Silbermann type organ as well as the Baird carillon.
FEATURING f
or the first time, the U-M Organ Improvisation Competition. Finalists will perform on the Letourneau organ at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Application forms and guidelines are available on the organ department website. Prizes will be: $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 respectively.
