Zion Lutheran Church is pleased to present an Organ Duet Concert featuring guest
artists Kiyo and Chiemi Watanabe in their Organ Concert Series. This husband and
wife duo have appeared by invitation at premier events in both the United States and
abroad, including organ festivals at the Spreckels Organ Pavillion in Balboa Park,
San Diego, California, and the Iglesia Cathedral in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico.
Kiyo holds a bachelor of music degree in organ performance from Baylor University
and master and a doctor of musical arts degree from Manhattan School of Music. He
serves as organist and artist director of the Elizabeth Perkins Prothro Organ Concert
Series at First United Methodist Church, Wichita Falls, Texas. Kiyo also directs both
adult and youth handbell choirs.
Chiemi has served as organist and music director at Floral Heights United Methodist
Church in Wichita Falls since 1997, where she directs the adult handbell choir. Chiemi
has studied with some of America’s leading organ teachers at The Juilliard School,
Manhattan School of Music, and Baylor University. Chiemi earned a bachelor of arts
degree in sociology from Kwansei Gakuin University in Hyogo, Japan, and a master of
music degree in organ from the Manhattan School of Music.
The concert will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 Sixth Street, Wausau,
Wisconsin on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow the
concert. The church is handicapped accessible. A free-will donation will be received.
