Mass of the Children- John Rutter

Experience the Milwaukee premier of two works originally composed for the voices of youth by notable composers Johann Michael Haydn and English composer, John Rutter.  Voices of Eterna and Milwaukee Youth Chorale join together to present the first of a two part concert series entitled, Musica Sacra or "Sacred Music." Joined together with soprano soloist Maureen Smith and the MCC Chamber Orchestra, the choirs will fill the awe inspiring St. Joseph's Chapel at the School Sisters of St. Francis with the angelic sounds of these very rarely performed choral works.  Originally composed as a commemoration for the Feast of Holy Innocents, Johann Michael Haydn wrote the St. Leopold Mass for the choir boys of the Cathedral in Salzburg.  Composed in 2003, John Rutter produced the Mass of the Children in as a concert work for Peter Taboris and MidAmerica Productions at Carnegie Hall, New York City.
