Wyatt Smith organ recital

Wyatt Smith, a 2009 graduate of Luther Preparatory School and presently a graduate student at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and the Yale School of Music, will present an organ recital on April 22 at 7:00 p.m. The recital will be held in the campus chapel and played on the chapel’s 25 rank tracker action instrument built by the Martin Ott Pipe Organ Company of St. Louis in 1991.

Besides works by Bach and Mendelssohn, Wyatt’s program includes a work he commissioned: Liturgy Live by Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra. The work intersperses chorale preludes which Bach composed for the liturgical year with the composer’s own improvisations. Detailed notes explaining the work will be included in the program. The Seminary Chorus will present several anthems accompanied by the organist. There will be a free-will offering during the intermission.
