The first time I met Miss Stringham  (that is what I called her when I was 15 in the 1970s) was at my audition to become her organ student at Carroll. My mom and dad invited friends over for tea and a piano recital given by me. I had to play classics including Bach and Beethoven. After I finished playing and was very excited to find out that she accepted me as a student. Needless to say, it changed my life. She challenged me musically and I LOVED IT! Phyllis had been my friend and supporter ever since I met her and I will always be thankful for her influence in my life.

Ms. Stringham was my undergraduate advisor, and a good friend.  I am saddened to learn of her passing, but delighted to have known her.
